Credit Repair in Today's Digital Age

by Chris Romero

In today's digital age, there are countless resources one can use on the net to help correct a bad credit history.

Whether you have defaulted on a loan, have made more late payments than you care to admit, have had utilities shut off, been bankrupt, incarcerated, evicted or faced foreclosure, there is still help out there. The key is to never give up,do your research and move forward with a plan. Life has its ups and downs but it is your ability to get back on your feet that will determine what kind of success you will have in the long run.

Lets look at the steps you can take immediately to help rebuild your credit history:

1. Stop living beyond your means
This means no more overspending or helping others
out when you cannot even afford to put food on the table. Many in today's fast paced, overcomplicated world often forget about themselves when dealing with the financial hardships of their loved ones. If you must help, try not to over extend too much and always try to budget.

2. Create a believable budget
As much as I like to think 20 bucks will last me a day ( when I have no gas in my car, no food in the fridge and my cell phone is about to get shut off ), I must be realistic about my situation. I need gas and food to operate. So before you try and pay down your debt, you must pay yourself.
Buy Groceries in bulk so all you have to do is replenish lightly before your next paycheck. Fill up your tank to get you through the next week(s). With inflation, it will be heard but not impossible.

3. Pay down as much debt as possible
Included in your weekly budget should be a fixed fixed amount that you can put on any outstanding credit cards, loans, etc. This amount can be higher depending on the money you have available but you should try not to fall below a fixed amount decided upon. This keeps up the momentum as paying off that debt becomes very rewarding.

4. Start a Savings Account
"What do you mean? I'm broke!" This is what I would always tell myself until I started putting away 5% of each check I got. Within a few months, my debt was much lower and I had a small cushion for emergencies and unexpected bills. How'd that happen? I paid off debt and I still have money in the bank. The further away from poverty you get the more you may want to save. It's like booking a one way ticket out of poverty- to hopefully never return again.

5. Get a Credit Report and understand it
Perhaps with the advice of a professional, you can look over your report, find the discrepancies that are holding you back, and dispute them. Here is a list of Credit Reporting agencies:

6. Use a professional service you can trust.
If you are anything like my dad, you know a bit about everything and often feel as though you can get the job done yourself. However, if you work around the clock and are caring for a family, then time is a hard thing to come by. A professional service will help you pinpoint those tough credit mistakes, negotiate with your creditors and often get fees waived, balances lowered and add positive information to your credit report. These Professional Credit Repair Services are very trustworthy and get the job done:

Now it's time to take action and stick with your plan!
